Steady on our feet!

Arianna, has finally begun to walk. Yes, by herself. She has accomplished six whole steps! (I didn't say she was walking far!!) I know suredly as her experienced mother that she can go much farther, but she just decides to sit and crawl to the prized person or object. No enticing has kept her on her feet. I am soo proud of my little lady bug! Keep up the good work Arianna Mae!
Aiden has become quite the comedian. He will do and say anything to get a rise out of us and a giggle from his sister. This week he has become quite the snuggler. I have been taking a few time outs to rest on the couch (Aiden says, "Mommy booboo on your back!?" He climbs up on me with his sister's doll Jasmine and closes her eyes. As we all three lay resting and wiggling Aiden announces, "Nap!" :) I think he just likes the extra mommy love!

An inconvenienced one-handed MOM!

Some might consider themselves right handed or perhaps left handed. I, on the other hand (no pun intended) consider myself one-handed. I inevitably always seem to have something in one of my hands, whether it may be a cute little baby, a 2 yr. old 'ouch I bumped my head -need extra mama love' boy, or an odd item I'm lugging around trying to keep away from sticky fingers. None-the-less, it has occurred to me that I just have to be okay cooking with one hand. Well, you might say...no problem for an experienced mother...right???!!! Not so! The other night all was foiled!!! As my kitchen helper Dave grabs a new full bottle of olive oil and cracks open the lid, he kindly hands it to me. Its always nice to have that extra hand around. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my favorite brand decided to switch to a flimsy plastic container. So, with Arianna in one arm and a collapsing bottle of E.V.O.O. in the other I was not looking so good. As the bottle gave way, olive oil overflowed all over me and my kitchen floor....and I mean ALL OVER! I've come to realize that oil is not so easy to clean up, slime city! I guess companies don't think about us one-handed moms, and how they can so easily handicap us! And if they thought it was just a funny joke...I'M NOT LAUGHING!

What are they thinking?!!

Dominoes....its like a chain reaction. Aiden and Arianna have gotten to the point of being totally aware of each other. They used to go about their days oblivious that their brother or sister even existed. No long are the days so simple. It has become an all consumed awareness, and an emotionally roller coaster. Whenever Arianna lets out a cry over a minor discontentment, Aiden tunes in and decides that his sister's world must be turning upside down and ending soon. He then has uncontrollable meltdowns and even seems like he's going to hyperventilate! What is he thinking? Arianna, in turn, zips her head around to see what all the fuss is about in Aiden's corner. She sees how upset he is, so in return she really lets out a cry. No longer is it a voiced complaint to mommy, now she has actual tears running down her cute pudgey cheeks. It almost seems like they are getting into crying competitions....'lets see who can get Mommy to melt down first!' So what starts as a simple, 'no mommy! don't take my sock out of my mouth, it tastes so good,' turns into a crazy room of total turmoil. Sometimes I wonder what actually just happened? We were all doing so well just a minute ago!!!!! Never a dull moment. It just goes to show that I should enjoy every peaceful content moment that they have, because it can be gone in a flash the next second....literally.

Aiden has been doing great learning his letters. He is so eager and loves to learn new things every chance he gets. He is so compassionate toward Arianna and loves to play with her and share all his toys. She lays on her belly and Aiden brings her a ball. She bats it away in attempts to grab it and chew on it. He happily chases after it. This can go on for an hour if I let it. They often just stop and exchange glances and both start giggling at each other. My little ones are so precious. Aiden has also become a dare devil. He'll dive off anything, often head first, and jumps and bounces and tumbles..... I can't belief how much air he gets sometimes. Ha!

Arianna is now sitting up steadily and is known to dive for something just out of reach. Resulting in a big belly flop! Just this past week she rolled from her back to her belly, finally. She was just waiting for that perfect item to go after...ah, mommy's cell phone! She is beginning to enjoy standing up at the couch and playing with a few chosen toys, unsupported! Standing is her all time favorite past time. If I grab her hands to play she usually pulls herself right up and grins ear to ear with a sense of great pride and accomplishment. She has begun eating solid foods. What an appetite! Besides eating her cereals, she has ventured onto summer squash. I think she would eat a mommy size portion if I let her. Tomorrow she'll get a new taste...Mangos! I'm not sure I've even tried them?! Oh, and I've decided I am making my own baby food this time around. I just cook up a batch, freeze it in ice cube trays, and pop them in a zip lock. Easy to grab and go when a quick meal is needed. So far, so good. I'll keep you updated!

Life in babyland, momma land, and honey please do land has been quite endearing recently. I love every moment of it, even if tears are being shed. I love knowing that I am able to comfort the little ones in times of dismay, teach them the many entities of everyday life, and support and love my adoring husband who works so hard on a daily basis. For this I am greatful.

Today I spent a nice part of my morning trying to convince little Aiden that Daddy was not really gone, he's just in the shower, as he cried desperately! His solution was to change his location of crying to the bottom of the steps where he set up camp in hopes of the Daddy reappearance! Not even my attempts to offer his favorite snacks could divert him from his serious mission to bring Daddy back!
This was a big week for Aiden... he learned to catch a ball! We all know how great his dead on aim is... and watch out if you're not looking! Arianna has started chuckling out loud when she thinks something is quite funny. Her first laugh came as I spun Aiden's soccer ball around, what a funny sense of humor!
